Transition Houston Labor Day Potluck and Movie

Our September meeting is by tradition (if doing something at least twice makes it a tradition) a Labor Day Potluck. We are also excited to be screening No Impact Man:

A newly self-proclaimed environmentalist who could no longer avoid pointing the finger at himself, Colin leaves behind his liberal complacency and vows to make as little environmental impact as possible for one year. No more automated transportation, no more electricity, no more non-local food, no more material consumption…no problem. That is, until his espresso-guzzling, retail-worshipping wife, Michelle, and their two year-old daughter are dragged into the fray.

We will be showing the film first, starting at 11:30, then eat and discuss afterwards, as well as have a few announcements about what is going on in Transtion Houston. Jim Ohmart has offered to host the potluck and film at his home on Japhet Creek, in the near-eastside Houston. Please bring a food item to share, labeled (especially if it contains allergens), and also plates and utensils if you can.

The location is 4510 Inman St., located near the intersection of Clinton Dr. and Emile St. Here are directions if you are coming from the west on I-10 or from the south on 59:

If you're coming US-59 exit I-10 East. Once on I-10 East exit at the Waco St, Exit 771-A, first exit past US-59. At Waco St turn right (south) to the first stop light at Clinton Dr. Turn Left (East) on Clinton to the second street on the right (Emile). Turn Right (South) on Emile and go two blocks to Inman. Turn in the next driveway on the left at the warehouses and park there. Our house is 4510 Inman on the left. Enter on through the gate on the right side of the house. We will be in the back yard or up the steps in the Kitchen. If you get lost call 713-674-2528.
